My name is Mr. Nick Wiltgen and I am the
5th-8th Grade Band Director for the Cedar Valley Catholic Schools in Waterloo, Iowa. This is my second year of teaching instrumental
music. Last school year, I taught 5th-12th grade band at Starmont Schools in Arlington, Iowa. In that position,
I directed 5th, 6th, 7th/8th and High School concert bands. I also instructed two jazz bands, pep band, and two marching
bands. I graduated from Wartburg College with a degree in Instrumental Music Education in 2008. While at Wartburg,
I played saxophone in the Wind Ensemble (Wartburg's ensemble that travels annually), Symphonic Band (playing mostly brass
instruments) and the Knightliters Jazz Band I. With the Wind Ensemble, I had the great fortune of traveling abroad to
Japan for a month. The band also toured within the US to Kansas City, Dallas, Minneapolis, and Chicago during
my membership. I went to Charles City High School, a smaller town in Northern Iowa, which has a strong tradition of
marching band, jazz band, and concert band. Some things I enjoy outside of school are golfing, camping, hiking, and spending
time with my friends and family. I have really enjoyed my opportunities to travel in high school and college, and I
hope to continue to travel throughout the US and other countries. I
am very excited to experience new cultures and customs. I have a cat named
Izzy who is about a year old and she is shades of gray.
